August 26, 2008 Minutes

Call to Order: John Schwab called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.

Minutes: Diane Phipps read minutes from the July 22, 2008 meeting.

Introductions: John Schwab asked each one to introduce themselves and give a brief statement.

Recent Reports:  Diane reported on 2 recent sightings . The group reviewed photos and material being investigated.

Presentation: Having attended the MUFON 39th Annual Conference in San Jose, John updated the local group on changes and cutting edge events.

Graphics: He showed a graphic of an unusual craft which recently circulated around the Internet and described watching a graphic artist create this same image in seconds. This stresses the importance for MUFON to look deeply when investigating a sighting. He attending a full days training for the new Field Investigator's Manual. About 150 took this class.

Stephensville Update: The existence of multiple radar tracking of this event has finally been released. Buzz credited the close proximity Bush's Crawford Ranch as a reason everyone believed radar was in place and why the government was so guarded about admitting or exposing information about protective measures in place. 

Ted Roe: Great presenter, for NARCAP feels we should leave out the term UFO from organizations because it generally has come to encompass to broad a range of undocumented phenomenon.

George Knapp spoke of Skinwalker Ranch. Some members felt there was a great possibility for fraud concerning events taking place there.

Ken Cherry was selected State Director of the Year.

Old Business: John asked for volunteers to attend a meeting with Greg Harman. Hopefully this will get our name out to the public. Rita stressed that we are the only country which has not given full disclosure to the public. We need to keep up the pressure to do so. She noted, firefighters have in their manual a method to deal with an encounter. Alan felt 7/11 tightened things up a lot. Diane plans to go to Live Oak, Converse and the Universal City Police Dept. to give them info on MUFON. Jorge said he would do the same in Bulverde.    

Next meeting:  Subject - Alien Implants for September - Alan and Investigations 101 - Jorge - October were selected. Meeting adjourned.
